Manual Starter Servicing105 Removal
1Avoid accidental starting of engine while servicingTwist and remove all spark plug leads
If equipped with starter interlock, remove the screw retaining the starter lockout cable clamp to the starter housing Remove starter lockout slide from the starter housingDisassembly
1Wear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tension
3Pull the starter rope far enough and place bolt or other suitable holding device to wedge the pulley and starter housing
[] 4Pry the starter rope anchor out of the handle Remove the handle, release the holding device, and ease the starter pulley back until the rewind spring is fully unwoundIt is not necessary to remove the starter handle bracket to remove the starter housing
