Fuel Pump Testing Before replacing suspect fuel pump, remove and clean the fuel filter or install new filter elementAlso remove fuel line from fuel tank and blow through all lines with low-pressure, compressed airCorrection of blockage would eliminate unnecessary servicing or replacement of fuel pumps

To prevent excessive fuel spillage, disconnect fuel line connector at outboard before disassembly
To install new filter element, loosen screw, and remove cover Do not lose small a-ring from around center post or large a-ring from outer edge of coverWash filter element

with clean solvent and brush
Install filter with lip toward fuel pump bodyMake sure large a-ring is seated in groove in cover and small a-ring is around center postInstall coverPosition nipple between screwsTighten the cover screw securelyOR3000

After servicing, check for leaks by connecting fuel line to outboard and squeezing primer bulb until resistance is feltFunction Test
