12Assemble the small pinion thrust washer with the inside chamfered diameter onto the pinion, chamfered side facing pinionOil and install the thrust bearing Install the large thrust washer with chamfered outside edge facing up

13Using right angled rod, install the pinion assembly in the gearcase14Place the forward gear into the gearcase
15Install the shifter cradle on clutch dogGrooved end of clutch dog must face forward gear end of the propeller shaftApply OMC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease to clutch dog and shifter cradle to hold in place while assembling16Install the shifter cradle and clutch dog in the gearcase using long-nose pliers17ApplyOMC Triple-Guard grease to new pivot pin a-ringInstall the a-ring on the pivot pin Apply OMC Nut Lock to threads of the pinAlign hole of the shifter lever with hole in the gearcaseInstall and tighten the pivot pin to torque of 48-84 inIbs(5-9 Nm)
