Gearcase Servicing Removal
1Avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing; twist and remove all spark plug leads
rn rn 2.pullIf the retainingremove from the shift leverPush the equipped, the shift rod screw If equipped, pin
shift lever toward the powerhead to disengage the shift rod
3Mark the trim tab and gearcase before removing the trim tab so it can be returned to the same positionRemove the trim tab retaining screw and the trim tab from the gearcase5 S
rn 4.Using washersocket, remove the countersunk inthin-wall screw with lock rn 5Remove the screw from inside the trim tab cavity[] 6Remove the four gearcase retaining screws7Remove the gearcase assembly from the exhaust housing, being careful not to bend the shift rodSecure the gearcase in suitable holding fixture
