VRO Oil Pump Volume Test
For functional tests of the VRO pump, refer to Testing Fuel System, this sectionTo verify oil delivery and proper fueloil ratio:
Avoid accidental starting of engine while changing propellers; twist and remove all spark plug leads1Install the proper test propeller and put the engine in suitable test tank2Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperatureStop the engine
INote Push fuel hose off fuel fittings -

don't pullIf pushing won't separate hose from fitting, carefully cut the hose along its side and peel it back to avoid damaging the fittings3Carefully remove the oil supply hose from the VRO pump oil inlet fitting
OJ 4Install 10 in(25 cm) length of in(6,35 mm) I.Dclear vinyl hose with marks every 112 in(12,7
mm) for in(101,6 mm)starting several inches from the open end5Fill the hose with Evinrude or Johnson Outboard Lubricant and run the engine to eliminate air from the base of the hose and VRO pumpShut off the engine and add oil to the hose until its level is above the highest mark6Run engine at about 1500 RPM and monitor the pump cycles by using fuel pressure gauge or putting light finger pressure on the outlet hoseCount the pulses for the oil level to drop in(76 mm)The pump should pulse to times for in(76 mm) oil level drop in in(6,35 mm) I.Dhose7If your results are different, check the pulse limiter before repairing the pump8If you remove pump, push the hoses off or carefully cut the hose along the side of the fitting to remove the hose without damaging the fitting9Install the oil supply hose using spring clampTorque the pump-to-bracket screws, to 18-24 inIbs(2-3 Nm)
