Starter Assembly Service Disassembly
Wear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tension1Pull rope out completely and retain pulley in position with stop tool (Kit PIN 342682)
2Remove rope from pulley channel, untie knot and remove rope from starter assembly3Remove stop tool and slowly unwind pulley until tension is released
W 4Remove retaining ring, pawl and linkage[]]& &
5Remove the starter spindle screw and locknutHold the pulley down in housing and lift out spindleCarefully lift out pulley, leaving spring in housingDo not remove spring with housing facing upDo not lift spring out of housing by hand or with pliersSpring is under tension and will cause injury if accidentally released6Keep fingers away from uncoiling springTurn starter housing over and jar on bench to remove spring
