Assembly

Before beginning assembly procedures, refer to Cleaning and Inspection, Page 6-4

1Oil and install new O-ring into new shift rod bushingAssemble the Bushing Installer to the Rod (components of CIVIC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer, PIN 393092)Place the bushing onto the Bushing and Installer with O-ring downApply OMC Adhesive sealant to the outside of the bushingUsing mallet, drive the bushing into the gearcase until seated2To install new lower driveshaft bearing, assemble components of OMC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer, PI 393092 (RodGuide Plate, Pinand Small Discwith concave side toward bearing), as shownPlace the lettered side of the bearing toward the small discUsing mallet, drive in the lower bearing until the pin comes in contact with the guide plate3To install new upper driveshaft bearing, assemble components of OMC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer, PIN 393092 (RodGuide Plateand Large Disc with concave side toward bearing), as shownPlace the lettered side of the bearing toward the large discUsing mallet, drive the upper bearing in until it is seated firmly4Using OMC Propeller Shaft Bearing Remover and Installer, PIN 392091, and soft mallet, drive in new forward gearcase bearing as far as it will goSupport the nose of the gearcase on block of wood on the floor while driving in the bearingMake certain that the lettered side of the bearing is facing the tool to prevent damage to the bearing5Install two new seals back-to-back in the gearcase head using OIVIC Seal Installer, PIN 327572Apply DPL penetrating lubricant to the casing of the sealsInstall the inside seal with the lip facing inward and the outside seal with the lip facing outwardApply OMC Triple-Guard grease to the lips after installing
