Gearcase Servicing2, 2.3, 3.3 Removal
1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove spark plug lead
I Note Gearcase does not have to be removed from exhaust housing to repair water pump
2Remove cotter pin, propeller, and drive pin from the gearcase
3Remove the two screws attaching the gearcase to the exhaust housing4Withdraw the gearcase carefully to avoid damaging the driveshaft and water tube5Pull tube and upper driveshaft from gearcase6Drain the gearcase by removing the oil level plug and oil filldrain plug Disassembly INotel Before disassembling the gearcase, refer to Cleaning and Inspection at the beginning of this section
