28Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the outside diameter of new lower crankshaft seal Install the seal with lip facing up towards flywheel, until seal bottoms on the retaining ring29Check for binding between the crankshaft and the bearings or connecting rods by rotating the crankshaft with the flywheel
30Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of new cylinder head gasketInstall the cylinder head and torque the screws in stages to 144-168 inIbs(16-18 Nm), following sequence shownInstall the cylinder head screws dryDo not use sealant on threads
31Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to new thermostat cover gasketInstall the thermostat using new seal32Apply OIVIC Gasket Sealing Compound to new exhaust cover gasket(s)Install the inner and outer exhaust coverTighten the screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm), starting with the center screws33Install the intake manifold and leaf plate assembly using new gasketDo not apply sealer to the gasketTighten the screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)34Install the water tube and grommet in the inner exhaust tubeLubricate the grommet before installing35Install the inner exhaust tube to the powerhead using new gasketIt is not necessary to apply sealer to this gasketInstall and tighten the screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm), starting with the center screwsInstallation 1Coat driveshaft splines with OMC Moly LubeDo not coat top surface of shaft as lubricant here may prevent seating of driveshaft in crankshaft2Place new gasket on the exhaust housing, and lower powerhead into place
