STEPPOWER PACK CRANKING TEST
To prevent accidental starting of engine, twist and remove spark plug lead from the spark plugAttach to spark tester
1Set peak-reading voltmeter to "POS" and "500"Twist and pull the primary lead off the ignition coil2Install terminal extender on the primary terminal by twisting in clockwise direction3Attach the primary lead to the terminal extender

4To test the power pack output, connect the meter black lead to clean engine groundConnect the meter red lead to metal part of extender on ignition coilCrank the engine and observe the meter reading Meter should indicate 180 volts or higher

5If meter reads less than 180 volts, remove the primary lead from the terminal extenderConnect ignition coil primary lead to Stevens NoPL-88 load adapter red leadConnect adapter black lead to clean engine groundCrank the engine and observe the meter reading If meter reads 180 volts or higher, test the ignition coil as described on Page 3-10 If the meter reads below 180 volts, check condition of spring clip and primary wire If problem with the wire or spring clip is found, correct the problem and retest the power pack output If the condition of the wire and spring clip is acceptable, replace the power pack6To remove terminal extender from ignition coil, turn extender in clockwise direction and pull off7Install power pack primary lead on ignition coil primary terminal
