Ignition System Components Ignition Module

The ignition module is located at the rear of the powerhead between the cylinder headsIt provides mounting for three coil assemblies, one per pair of cylinders (i.eNo.1 and 2,3 and 4, and 6)Six wires connect the module with the ECU, so the ECU can control coil primary circuit operationThe module requires 12V, 26V, and good external ground to operate properly
The ignition module incorporates large metal plate that mounts the ECU and the fuel filter canisterThe plate also acts as heat sink for the ignition moduleThe FFI ignition system presents serious shock hazardThe primary circuit operates at 250 volts; the secondary circuit operates in excess of 35,000 voltsUse caution to avoid injury from shock, or injury from your reaction to shockDo not handle primary or secondary ignition components while the engine is cranking or runningFuse]One fuse in the Power Distribution Panel protects the ignition systemThe fuse in Position is in the 26V circuit to the moduleIf it fails, the ignition system will no longer function40 Amp Relay]40 amp relay (Position 8) in the Power Distribution Panel supplies the switched 12V circuit to the module and ECUIf it fails, the ignition system will no longer function, or it may not shut offDR44690
