FFIOverview
The function ofOMC's FFI'M (FICHT Fuel Injection) sequential, direct-injection fuel system is to efficiently supply fuel under all engine load, temperature, and RPM conditionsThe benefits of FFI include quick starting, improved fuel economy, excellent throttle response, and greatly reduced exhaust emissionsFFlinvolves the interaction of various fuel, oil, ignition, and electrical componentsAll work together under the direction of an ECU (Electronic Control Unit)OMC's FFI system has number of unique fea tures: Alternator output is dual-voltage; both 12 and 26 volts DC are produced and regulated The regulator has built-in battery isolator to accommodate an auxiliary battery The fuel injectors are German concept (FICHT); fuel is injected under high pressure directly into each combustion chamberThe fuel distribution system is regulated at approximately 20-30 PSI (138-207 kPa) The fuel system is protected by water separator filter canister
