9Lightly coat the gear housing bearing with OMC Extreme Pressure GreaseLightly coat the driven gear with OMC TripleGuard greaseInstall the thrust washer and driven gear10Install the weather cover
11If removed, install the spring and spacer (large diameter up) on the pinion shaftSecure with retaining ringInstall bushing and wave washer (convex side down)
12Lightly coat the pinion shaft splines with OMC Starter Pinion Lube, PIN 337016Lower the pinion assembly into place without displacing the driven gear or thrust washer
130 13Lightly coat the pinion housing bearing with OMC Starter
Pinion Lube, and install the pinion housing screws and lock washersTorque the screws to 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)
14Install the bracket as shownApply OMC Nut Lock to the thru-boltsInstall the nuts and torque to 50-65 inIbs(5,6-7,3 Nm)15To test the assembly and operation of the starter, refer to No Load Current Draw, Electric Starter testInstallation 1Apply OMC Locquic Primer and OMC Nut Lock to the threads of the mounting screwsPosition starter and install the mounting screws and lock washers
