[] 6Remove pinion and plastic weather cover from pinion shaft

7Remove the driven gear and thrust washer

8Using No2 external retaining ring pliers, remove the retaining ring and drive gear from the armature shaft

9Loosen and remove the thru-boltsMark the end cap orientation, and remove the cap10Gently, tap the starter frame with rubber mallet to loosen11 Check end of shaft or inside end cap for insulator capInspect and replace, if necessary
