5Remove the large thrust washerthrust bearingand reverse gear from the gearcaseRemove the small thrust washer, forward of the reverse gear

6Remove the four driveshaft bearing housing screws with washers

to engage FORWARD gearThis will provide necessary clearance to remove the pinion nut
7Rotate the propeller shaft while pulling up on the shift rod
