Gearcase ServicingVB Removal
1Avoid accidental starting of motorDisconnect the charge coil connectors between stator assembly and power packs, and battery cables at the battery
rn 2Rotate the Remove the shiftand shift gearcase into the propeller shaft REVERSE positionrod retaining screw
3Using 5s inthin wall socket, remove the screw flat washer
4Scribe mark on the gearcase and trim tab so tab can be reinstalled in the same positionRemove the trim tab and gearcase retaining screw
rn 5Remove the four gearcase retaining screws with washers&Under some full tilt conditions or periods where the engine's gearcase is removed, the trimtilt unit could be out of sequence, not fully supporting the engine's weightEngine might drop unexpectedly to its trimmed out positionTo avoid personal injury, always support the engine's weight with suitable hoist or the trailering arms during service6Remove the gearcase assembly from the exhaust housing, being careful not to bend the shift rodThe lower inner exhaust housing may come out with the gearcaseSecure the gearcase in suitable holding fixture
