25Position the driveshaft thrust bearingthrust washerand shim(s) (selected earlier) on the driveshaftin the order shown
1201 INote 1Position bearingwasher, and shim(s) exactly
26Apply light coat of OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the gearcase area that contacts mounting flange of the bearing housingDo not coat inside bearing housing bore surface of the gearcase
27 Using OMC Driveshaft Seal Protector, PIN 318674, slide the driveshaft bearing housing onto the driveshaft28Push down on the shift rod to engage REVERSE gearTurn the gearcase upside down by rotating the holding fixtureBe sure any excess grease is removed from the pinion needle bearingsDegrease taper of the pinionPosition the pinion in the gearcase29Degrease the driveshaft taper and install the driveshaftTurn the gearcase right side up
