STEPCHARGE COIL TEST, V4 MODELS Ground Test
1Disconnect the starboard side Packard connector between stator and power pack2Attach test adapter from Kit, PIN 437270, to stator connector3Set peak-reading voltmeter to "POS" and "500"
4Connect the meter black lead to clean engine groundAlternately connect meter red lead between brown, brownlwhite stator leadsCrank engine and observe meter at each connection: Any reading indicates charge coil is grounded Locate and repair ground, or replace stator assembly
5If no reading is indicated in Step 4, go to Output TestOutput Test 1Set peak-reading voltmeter to "POS" and" 500"2Attach meter black lead to brown stator leadAttach meter red lead to the brownwhite stator
lead If meter shows 250 volts or higher, go to next step indicated in Troubleshooting Sequence Chart, Page 3-24 If meter shows less than 250 volts, check condition of wiring and connectors If wiring and connector condition is good, go to Ohmmeter TestOhmmeter Test
