Shift Cable 1Extend shift cable and lubricate with CIVIC Triple-Guard grease2Verify that the remote control fast idle lever is down in the RUN position3Move the remote control handle to NEUTRAL &
Before connecting shift cable, verify control handle position and neutral lockout index plate orientation
[] 4Move the remote control handle to full throttle in FORWARD
5Rotate the propeller shaft and shift the gearcase into FORWARD
[] 6Install the shift cable on the shift lever pinInstall the flat washer and cotter clip[] 7Remove cable retainerPull firmly on cable casing to remove backlash and adjust cable trunnion nut to locate in anchor pocket8Temporarily install the cable retainer9Shift the remote control to NEUTRAL10Remove the shift cable from the shift lever pin and anchor pocketVerify that the gearcase is in its NEUTRAL
INote If there aren't enough threads on the shift cable to allow
the adjustment in Step 7, or if the gearcase detent does not correspond with remote control NEUTRAL in Step 10, refer to Section for shift rod height adjustment11Attach shift cable to shift lever pin using cotter clip and washer supplied with engine
