Disassembly
& Wear safety glasses while disassembling
and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tension
rn 1.Pry the starter rope anchorfar enoughthe tie slipknot in the Pull the starter rope out to ropeout of handle Remove
the handle, release the slipknot, and ease the pulley back until the rewind spring if fully unwound
2Remove the spindle screw nut spring washersand friction ring
[]] 3Remove the spindle screwspindle washerspindle
4Remove the two retaining rings CD and lift both pawls, links, and friction plate as an assemblyRemove the spindle bushing Q) and shim
5Hold the pulley in the starter housing while turning the starter over, legs downHold fingers clear of the pulley and jar the starter housing against bench to dislodge the rewind spring and pulleyCleaning and Inspection
