27Slide the retainer plate down the propeller shaft and into the gearcase with tab facing down28Using ClIIC Retaining Ring Pliers, PIN 331045, install the retaining ring into groove in gearcase with sharp outside edge facing aftThe retaining ring is under extreme pressure during installationWear safety glasses and proceed with care to avoid unsnapping the ring from the pliersLook inside the gearcase and make sure that the ring is seated in groove

Thread one CWIC Guide Pin, PIN 383175into the retainer plate

30Stick the reverse gear thrust washer to the back side of the propeller shaft bearing housing with CWIC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease31 Lightly apply CWIC Gasket Sealing Compound to the aft support flange of the bearing housingAlign the propeller shaft bearing housing on the guide pin with the word "UP" toward the top32Using brass punch and mallet, seat the bearing housing in the gearcase
