Water Pump Servicing If the gearcase has been in service for any length of time, it is good policy to install water pump repair kitTo install the repair kit, proceed as follows:
Removal
1Remove the four screws retaining the impeller housing to the gearcase2Slide the water pump assembly off the driveshaftRemove the impeller drive camimpeller a-ringimpeller plateand gasket Discard the gasket
DisassemblylAssembly
1Remove all the parts from the housing Inspect the housing for cracks or melting
2Apply drop of OMC Adhesive sealant in the seal ring groove at each of the four ribs Do not allow any of the adhesive to get into the air bleed groove in the impeller housing.lfthis groove is blocked by adhesive, the pump may lose its prime and not pump water3Place the a-ring
