Midsection Adjustments40RS, 40, 50SPL, 50& Steering Friction Adjustment The steering friction adjustment is preset at the factoryReadjust after 20 hours operation, and when necessary
The steering friction should be adjusted so motor torque does not swing motorDo not overtighten for "hands off" steering, which could result in loss of control
With motor mounted on boat, adjust steering friction by turning screwIdle Speed Adjustment

rn Theknobspeed adjusting knob is located onturning counteridle steering handleTurning clockwise increases idle speed;
clockwise decreases idle speedThrottle Friction Adjustment Throttle friction screw should be adjusted ONLY to the point that slight drag is felt when accelerating or deceleratingDO NOT overtightenMinimum Trim Angle Adjustment The stern bracket has three positions for adjusting motor's minimum trim angleThe motor is shipped with tilt pin in second holeThis will be the best position for most boatsOn some boats it may be advisable to limit the amount of trim "IN" that can be usedThis may be due to large transom angle, the boat loading, or other reasonsIf it is necessary to limit the trim angle, then: Place motor in full tilt position and engage trailering lock Remove locknut Move tilt pin to next holeInstall and tighten locknut to torque of 20-25 ftIbs(27-34 Nm)
