22Lightly apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the gearcase area that contacts mounting flange of the bearing housingDo not coat inside bearing housing bore surface of the gearcase23Using OMC Driveshaft Seal Protector, PIN 318674, slide the driveshaft bearing housing onto the driveshaft24Pull up on the shift rod to engage FORWARD gearTurn the gearcase upside down by rotating the holding fixtureBe sure any excess grease is removed from the pinion needle bearingsDegrease inside taper of the pinionPosition the pinion in the gearcase25Degrease the driveshaft taper and install the driveshaftTurn the gearcase right side upCOA3130
