1Wear safety glasses while servicing the manual starter
2Clean the starter components in solvent and dry with compressed air3Examine the starter housing and pulley for sharp edges and rough surfaces that could fray the starter ropeFile and polish to remove
4Place the starter spring shield into the housing
5Examine the starter spring for weak areas or broken end loops6Locate CWIC Starter Spring Winder and Installer, PIN 392093
7Clamp spring winder base in viseInsert release plate into spring winder base
8Apply Lubriplate 777 to the rewind springInstall the rewind spring into the spring winder base with open loop of spring facing inward9Insert the crankhandle pin into the spring loop
