Shift Lever and Linkage Service9.915 (305cc) Removal
1Remove the lower engine covers as described in Powerhead Servicing, this section
2Remove the clip and drive pin from the shift handle
3Remove the screw and wave washer retaining the shift handlelinkSlide the clevis off link
W 4Remove the clip retaining the shift rod clevis to the shift
5Remove the screw retaining the shift detent springsRemove springs
6Remove the screw and washer retaining the shift shaft assemblyRemove the shaft assembly and bushings
rn 7Inspect components and replace if necessaryInstallation
1Install shift shaft assembly and bushingsApply OMC Nut Lock to screw and install with washerTorque to 15-17 ftIbs(20-23 Nm)
