Break-In Procedure To help ensure long engine life and prevent serious engine damage, use OMC Four-Stroke Outboard Break-in Lubricant during the first 20 hours of engine operation for: new engine used engine with new powerhead used engine with newly rebuilt powerhead, cylinder walls honed, and new piston rings installed Note DO NOT operate motor out of waterWater pump can be damaged or engine can overheatI Note DO NOT operate engine at constant throttle settingChange engine RPM oftenI Note Before starting engine, check oil level and add if necessaryFirst 20 Minutes Operate engine in gear at fast idle ONLYDO NOT exceed 1500 RPM Verify water pump operation by looking for steady stream of water at the water pump indicatorNext 40 Minutes ._ DO NOT operate engine above V2 throttle DO NOT hold constant throttle settingChange engine speed every 15 minutes Verify water pump operation Check engine oil level and add if necessaryINotel With easy planing boats, use full throttle to quickly accelerate boat onto planeImmediately reduce throttle to one-half as soon as boat is on planeBE SURE boat remains on plane at this throttle settingNen Nine Hours Avoid continuous full-throttle operation Verify water pump operation Bring boat onto plane and operate engine below
