Starter Servicing8 Removal
1Avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing; twist and remove all spark plug leads2Remove shift detent end of starter lockout by pressing in on tabs and pulling up out of housing
rn 3Remove the screws retaining starter to the powerhead!II 4Remove starterRemove locknut cable by cutting tie strap
and pressing in on tabs and pulling up out of housing
rn 5To service lockout assembly, remove the plungers and springsStarter Rope Replacement]1Pull starter rope out to end of ropeTurn pulley until rope anchor in pulley and rope guide in housing alignInsert tool through pulley and starter housing to hold pulley against spring tension[] 2Pry anchor out of handle and remove rope from anchorPull old rope out through pulley3Cut new rope 59112 in(151 cm) longFuse both ends of rope
