STEPCHARGE COIL TEST Ground Test
1Disconnect 4-pin Packard connector between stator and ignition module
2Set peak-reading voltmeter to

3Connect the meter black lead to clean engine groundAlternately connect meter red lead between the two brown stator leadsCrank engine and observe meter at each connection: Any reading indicates charge coil is grounded Locate and repair ground, or replace stator assembly
4If no reading is indicated in Step 3, go to Output TestOutput Test

1Set peak-reading voltmeter to "POS" and" 500"
2Attach meter black lead to one brown stator leadAttach meter red lead to the other brown stator lead 3Crank engine and observe meter: If meter shows 300 volts or higher, go to STEPIGNITION MODULE TEST If meter shows less than 300 volts, check condition of wiring and connectors If wiring and connector condition is good, go to Ohmmeter Test
