Synchronization and Linkage Adjustments 9.915 Tiller Models INotel You must perform this step-by-step procedure exactly as written to ensure consistent engine idling and smooth operation throughout the RPM rangeIdle Speed 1The boat must be in the water, under normal operating conditions, with the correct propeller installedThe boat's movement must be unrestrainedThe boat must not be tied to dock or trailerI Note The idle mixture in the carburetor is controlled by factory adjustment to meet current emission standardsThe adjustment should only be disturbed for cleaning or rebuilding purposesIf the adjustment has been disturbed, refer to Carburetor Adjustment, Section 22Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature

3Reduce engine speedAdjust the idle speed adjusting knob counterclockwise to the full SLOW position4Stop the engineRemove the screw and washer retaining the throttle cable bracket

5Pull on throttle cable casing to move the throttle cam away from the cam follower roller6Connect your shop tachometer pickup on the ignition coil's primary lead, and set its selector switch on 2-cycleStart the engine and verify idle speed in FORWARD gear
