Stator Resistance Tests
INote Disconnect

battery cables before proceeding with this

1Disconnect stator yellow and yellowgray leads from terminal board
2Calibrate ohmmeter on appropriate scaleConnect one ohmmeter lead to stator yellow lead and the other ohmmeter lead to stator yellowgray lead Refer to chart below for the correct value for your engine and stator combination

Repair or replace stator if reading is not correct
3To check for grounded conditiondisconnect both ohmmeter leadsCalibrate ohmmeter on appropriate scaleConnect one ohmmeter lead to clean engine ground and the other ohmmeter lead alternately to both stator leads Ohmmeter should show high reading If ohmmeter shows low reading, stator is grounded and should be repaired or replacedRefer to Stator Servicing, Section 3
