Continuity TestNegative Circuit, Hand Control Models
To avoid damaging components or troubleshooting equipment, disconnect the battery cables before proceeding
1Use an ohmmeter calibrated on high ohms scale or continuity light to test continuity2Connect one meter lead to BLACK battery cableLeave this meter lead connected for all the following tests
4Connect second meter lead steering housing terminal:
3Remove the steering housing cover
to BLACK 8-Ga lead at
The meter must show continuity
If meter shows no continuity, repair or replace battery cables9824
5Move the forward reverse switch to FORWARDToggle is away from handle on bow mount models and toward handle on transom mount models6Connect second meter lead to BLACK 14-Ga(output) lead on the forward reverse switch: The meter must show continuity If meter shows no continuity, refer to ForwardReverse Switch in this section
