Cleaning and Inspection 1Inspect the brushesreplace if damaged, cracked, or worn in halfReplace brush springs, if weak2Clean commutator with 300-grade emery clothIf commutator surface is pitted or unevenly worn, turn it on latheRemove any trace of oil or metal dust from the commutator
