23Remove the pinion bearing only if it needs to be replacedBefore attempting removal: V6Remove bearing retaining ring from the top of the pinion bearing using long-handle needle-nose pliers such as Snap-On No911 CP or equivalent 1221 va 1231

24If the pinion bearing must be replaced, use OMC Universal Pinion Bearing Remover and Installer, PI 391257, and assemble it as follows:
Flange Nut, PIN 326586 Plate, PIN 391260 Remover, PIN 326579
Rod, PIN 326582
Use inwrench to hold the remover in placeUsing inwrench, turn the flange nut clockwise and draw the bearing up and out of the gearcase
