removed, apply OMC Locquic Primer and OMC Screw Lock to the brush card screws before installing1Place armature in frame
[1!] 2Apply OMC Extreme Pressure Grease to the brush holder cap armature bearing3Correctly route the brush leads and install the springs and brushes
INote Incorrect
orientation of the brushes could damage the starter or cause reverse rotation
[1!] 4Compress the brushes and springs with modified putty knife 5Align and place brush holder cap firmly on armature and slide putty knife out, making sure the brushes are retained properlyInstall thrust washer, and align and place end cap onto armature shaft7Apply OMC Locquic Primer and OMC Screw Lock to the threaded portion, and install the two thru boltsTorque to 50-60 inIbs(5,6-9 Nm)Lightly coat the pinion with OMC Triple-Guardgrease and install on the armature shaftInstall the retaining ring with external retaining ring pliers9Attach solenoid with bracket to starterAttach solenoid strap to starter postTighten screws and nut securelyCoat strap, post, and nut with OMC Black Neoprene Dip
