11If removed, install new forward gear bearingApply OMC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease to 25 new rollersInstall the rollers in the bearing1291130 12Using OMC Bearing Installer, PI 339778, install the bearing, lettered side facing tool1271 13Install the thrust bearing on the forward gear126 14Place the bearing housing on the forward gear
15Install 0.030 inof shims and the thrust bearing in the flange, and install on the forward gear
1321 16Install set screws and torque to 144-168 inIbs(16-19 Nm)Use no thread sealant1331 17Anchor dial indicator gauge to flat, level surface1331 18Position the gear assembly so the indicator needle makes contact with the flange on the housingThe indicator needle must be parallel with the side of the gear housing and perpendicular to the table surfaceZero the dial indicator1341 19Grip the bearing housing 180 apart and pull up to get reading on the indicatorTo determine thickness of shims; use the following example: 0.030 inof shims in the assembly0.020 inyour reading on the dial indicator
