7Separate crankcase and cylinder blockIt may be necessary to tap on crankshaft with rawhide or rubber mallet to loosen
[] 8Remove upper seal from crankshaftDiscard the sealA new upper seal must be installed on assembly

9Loosen in stages and remove cylinder head retaining screws, remove the cylinder headsDiscard thermostat seals

10Using an indelible marker, identify each connecting rod cap by cylinder numberRod No.1 is closest to the flywheel11Using OVIC Torquing Socket, PIN 331638, loosen in stages the rod cap retaining screwsDo not remove the screws

1TIl12Using one hand to support the piston, remove the rod cap screws with your other handRemove piston1Note Reattach each rod ca to its rod as soon as the piston is removed Each cap is unique and can only be installed on its mated rodDo not allow rod to contact inside edge of piston1Note Identify all internal components so that if reused they can be reinstalled in their original positions
