Driveshaft Bearing Housing Service INotellf the needle bearing in the housing is worn, the bearing and housing must be replaced as an assembly
1Remove the driveshaft bearing housing seal(s) using OMC Puller Bridge, PIN 432127, and OMC Large Puller Jaws, PIN 432129Discard the seals2Remove the a-ring from the bearing housing and discard
3Clean the bearing housing in solvent to remove sealer from the seal bore and the a-ring groove4Install seal(s) in bearing housing: If installing two back-to-back seals, use OMC Seal Installer, PIN 326549Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compoundto the metal casings ofthe seals before installingInstall the inner seal with flush lip facing toward the bearing housing, then the outer seal with extended lip facing away from the bearing housingApply OMC Triple-Guard grease to the seal lips after installing If installing an extended-lip seal, use OMC Seal Installer, PIN 342665Apply oil to the casing of the seal before installingInstall the seal with the exposed lip facing away from the bearing housingPress the seal into the housing until the tool seatsApply OMC Triple-Guard grease to the seal lips after installing
