Assembly Wear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tension1Lubricate starter housing, spring, and pulley bearing surfaces with OMC Triple-Guard grease& [JJ

2Insert spring through starter housingHook spring end into pulley hub slot as pulley is placed in position in the starter housing
3Hold pulley in place and turn pulley slightly to check that spring is hooked to pulleySecure pulley with spindle screw, threading finger tight4With starter upside down, carefully turn pulley counterclockwise until spring is completely drawn into starter housingContinue turning pulley carefully until spring is wound tight5Unwind pulley 3-4 revolutions and line up end of rope with guide in starter housingPull rope through guide6Pull the starter rope out far enough to tie slip knot in the rope7Route the rope through the handle and install rope in the anchor
