bQuickly clamp the piston tightly in soft-jaw viseUsing breaker bar or similar tool through the eyelet, unscrew the rod from the piston Allow the piston to cool before removing from the viseThe four valves in the tilt piston are not serviceableIf the valves need replacement, the entire piston assembly will have to be replacedRemove any Locktite material left in the threads of the piston and the rodcSlide the tilt cylinder end cap off of the rod Remove and discard the outside O-ring from the end capUsing flat tool, pry the outside scraper from the end capDiscard the scraperdUsing the same tool, pry the O-ring and back-up ring from the end capDiscard the O-ringeOil and install new O-ring and back-up ring in the end capThe square back-up ring goes above the O-ringfUse heat lamp or hot water to warm new scraperInstall the scraper in the end cap with the lip facing upgSecure the eyelet end of the rod in soft-jaw viseUsing OMC Tilt Cylinder Seal Protector, PI 326005, slide the end cap onto the rod in the direction shownPlace new outside O-ring on the end caphSpray the threads of the rod and the internal threads of the piston with OMC Locquic PrimerIn soft-jaw vise, secure the piston firmly with the smaller valve holes facing UPApply one or two drops of OMC Nut Lock to the threads of the rodThread the rod into the pistonTighten the rod securelyTry to avoid allowing the piston to slip in the soft jaws of the viseOil and install new outside O-ring on the piston9-60
