Exhaust Housing Servicing
Removal

1Remove the powerhead as described in Section 42Remove the gearcase as described in Section 6
L!.I brackets to exhaust housing adapterNote the location of the
washer for correct reassemblyRemove the lower engine cover4Remove steering arm shield
'11 3Remove the two screwslower engine cover support

r:;J 5If equipped, remove the two nuts and screws, steering bracket to steering armRemove the steering bracket assembly

Manual tilt models have tilt assist shock absorber which exerts considerable upward pressureRemoving the exhaust housing while it's in the down position could allow sudden release of parts which could cause serious injuryPlace motor in tilt position to relieve pressure
