Remote Control Cable InstallationEngine '" To prevent accidental starting of engine, verify that battery cables are disconnected at batteryControl Cable Identification r:jl 1Put the control handle into NEUTRAL position The throttle LJ cable casing guide will retract completely and the shift cable casing guide will go to the midpoint of its travel1.jl 2As you move the control handle into FORWARD, the shift LJ cable casing guide must retract and the throttle cable casing guide must begin to extend3As you move the control handle into REVERSE, both casing guides must extend4Identify each control cable for proper installation,

1Remove the rubber grommet from front of lower engine coverRemove cable retainerApply liberal amount of OMC TripleGuard grease to both anchor block pockets

2Extend throttle cable and lubricate with OMC Triple-Guard grease
3Verify that the fast idle lever is down in the RUN position4While rotating the propeller shaft, move the remote control handle from NEUTRAL to the FORWARD detent and then halfway back to NEUTRALThis positions the control for proper throttle cable adjustmentFailure to follow this procedure exactly might cause accelerated wear of shift system components and high shifting effort5Move engine throttle lever tightly against idle stop screw
