Water Pump Servicing If the gearcase has been in service for any length of time, it is good policy to install water pump repair kitTo install the repair kit, proceed as follows: Removal 1Remove the four screws retaining the impeller housing to the gearcase
2Slide the water pump assembly off the driveshaftRemove the impeller drive camimpeller a-ringimpeller plateand gasket Discard the gasketDisassemblyAssembly 1Remove all the parts from the housingInspect the housing for cracks or melting
rn 2Apply dropthe OMC AdhesiveDo sealant in the seal ring of groove at each of four ribs not allow any of the
adhesive to get into the air bleed groove in the impeller housingIfthis groove is blocked by adhesive, the pump may lose its prime and not pump water
rn 3Place the a-ring in the groove in the impeller housing[] 4Lightly coat the exterior of the impeller cup with OMC Gasket Sealing CompoundInstall the cup in the impeller housingThe cup locks in place in the housing with square index tab
