General Safety Warnings

Before working on any part of the power trimtilt system, read the section called Safety at the end of this manualReplace any locking fastener (locknut or patch screw) if its locking feature becomes weakDefinite resistance to turning must be felt when reusing locking fastenerIf replacement is indicated, use only authorized replacement or equivalentWhen servicing this unit, only use the service procedures outlined and the correct parts catalog for this specific unitSome internal components might appear similar to those in other hydraulic units, but might have different operating pressures and characteristicsInterchanging components could have an adverse effect on the unit's operation or safety features, or bothDo not apply heat to the trim manifold or cylinder bodyHeat can cause high pressure leaks or failure of parts, or bothIf you open the manual release valve to manually tilt the motor up, be aware that the motor cannot be held up by merely closing the valveThe motor must be held up by the tilt support, the trailering bracket, or suitable hoistThe motor must be lowered manually, or with hoist, until it is resting on the trim cylindersBefore returning the motor to your customer: Make sure the manual release valve is tightened (turn clockwise) to reactivate the motor's shock absorption protection, reverse thrust capability, and all the trimtilt functions Make sure the trim limiter rod is installed and in the same location as it was when the motor was brought in for serviceLeaving the trim limiter rod out, or inserting it closer to the boat, will allow the motor to trim in farther than expected by your customerUnexpected additional trim-in could cause loss of control
