The clutch dog is not symmetricalIf installed backward, it will not fully engage forward gear and will immediately damage itself and the gearf1Ol 13V4Install the clutch dog on the propeller shaft: face the splineless lugs aft, and align its hole with the slot in the propeller shaftf11l 14V6Align holes in the clutch dog with slot in the propeller shaftInstall the clutch dog on the shaft with "PROP END" facing rear of the shaftf121 15Slide the propeller shaft onto the shifter shaft, align the hole in the shaft with the hole in the clutch dog, install the pin and then, new clutch dog retaining springPosition three coils over each end ofthe pin, making sure none ofthe coils overlap or are loose

bearing housing with the detent lever toward the topPush the detent lever down, into REVERSE positionBe sure the thrust bearing and the thrust washer are properly positionedInsert the propeller shaft assembly into the gearcase, being sure to align the shift housing pin with hole in forward end of gearcase housing
