Gearcase ServicingV4, V6 Removal
i twist and remove all spark plug leads
'" 1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing,

r;] 2Rotate the propeller shaft and shift gearcase to REVERSE Pull retaining pin from the shift leverPush the shift lever toward the powerhead
r:;l r:;] 3Note where the index mark on the gearcase aligns with the index number of the adjustable trim tab so that the trim tab can be reinstalled in the same positionRemove the screw and the trim tab
4Using 58 inthin wall socket, remove screw 5Using 9A6 insocket, remove screw 6Remove the four gearcase retaining screws7Remove the gearcase assembly from the exhaust housing, being careful to not bend the shift rodThe lower inner exhaust housing may come out with the gearcaseSecure the gearcase in suitable holding fixture
