Cleaning and Inspection
Replace damaged componentsShift system failure will cause loss of control over direction of engine thrust1Discard all seals, O-rings, and gaskets
2Clean all jet drive components in solvent and dry with compressed airTo avoid personal injury, wear eye protection and regulate air pressure to not more than 25 PSI (172 kPa)3Perform the following inspections: Jet drive housingAll surfaces must be free of corrosion and sealerAll threaded holes must be free of corrosion and sealerDrive impellerCheck impeller for nicks and burrsFile edges to remove any nicks and to keep surface sharp

rn Intake housing linerInspectis for wear or damageIf impeller clearance adjustment not obtainable, the liner
will require replacementRefer to Impeller Clearance AdjustmentRemove four screws retaining liner to housing and replace liner DriveshaftCheck threads and splines for chips, wear, and cracksBearing and gear surfaces must not show signs of metal transfer, corrosion, or discolorationSevere spline wear indicates the exhaust housing or jet drive housing has been distorted, possibly by impact damage All internal componentsInspect for signs of wear, distortion, chipping, metal transfer, pitting, galling, and discoloration due to improper lubrication Water pumpCheck impeller for wear, crumblingand hub bondingCheck liner and wear plate for scoring and distortion
