the gearcase area that contacts mounting flange of the bearing housingDo not coat inside bearing housing bore surface of the gearcase24Using OMCDriveshaft Seal Protector, PI 318674, slide the driveshaft bearing housing onto the driveshaft25Pull up on the shift rod to engage FORWARD gearTurn the gearcase upside down by rotating the holding fixtureBe sure any excess grease is removed from the pinion needle bearingsDegrease inside taper of the pinionPosition the pinion in the gearcase26Degrease the driveshaft taper and install the driveshaft27Lightly coat the threads of the pinion nut with outboard lubricant and install on the driveshaftTurn the driveshaft by hand to engage the nut
