Propeller InstallationV4
1Avoid accidental starting of engine while changing propellers; twist and remove all spark plug leads
2Place engine's shift lever in NEUTRAL3Coat the propeller shaft splines sparingly with OMC TripeGuard grease
IJJ 4Place the thrust bushing in the propeller, then slide the
assembly onto the propeller shaft
IJJ 5Install the thrust washer on the propeller shaft splinesIJJ 6Install the propeller nut and tighten to torque of 120
inIbs(14 Nm)If cotter pin holes in the propeller nut and propeller shaft are not aligned, continue to tighten the nut until they are in lineDo not loosenshaftBend its ends over the nut to secure the assembly
IJJ 7Insert new cotter pin through the propeller nut and
8Make sure engine is in NEUTRAL; give propeller spinIt must turn freely

If the gearcase has been in service for any length of time, it is good policy to install water pump repair kitTo install the repair kit, proceed as follows: Removal 1Remove the four screws retaining the impeller housing to the gearcaseRotate the driveshaft counterclockwise to unlock the impeller cam2Slide the water pump assembly off the driveshaftRemove the impeller drive camimpeller O-ringimpeller plateand impeller plate gasket CDDiscard the gasketDisassemblyAssembly 1Start by removing all the parts from the housingInspect the housing for cracks or melting
