r:;J 18Slide OMC Shift Detent Sleeve PI 328081 over the propeller shaftAlign slot in the tool with hole in the propeller shaft
1431 19Insert one detent ball, then the spring, then the other
detent ballPush down on the ball and slide the tool back until you feel the ball slip into the detent
1441 20Install the propeller shaft and detent tool in gearcase :
Propeller shaft must engage forward bearing Tool ramps must engage clutch dog rampsHold tool firmly against clutch dogGently tap propeller shaft with rawhide mallet to seat detent assembly
21 Remove detent tool1451 22Slide the reverse gear down the propeller shaft and into
the gearcase
